Stretch and Breathe

Gentle group exercise weekly from Wednesday 3rd December from 7pm to 7.45 pm.

In the Main Hall. Free for members, £5 non-members.

Stretch and Breathe are all the non judo and not contact elements of judo that I teach in my judo classes.  Participants will work at their own pace and within the limitations of their own bodies, with the option to gently challenge those limitations if they so wish.  This will be a low intensity exercise.

The class will start with stretching exercises and controlled breathing, focusing on the entire body.  The second half of the class will be focused on various breathing exercises that will help participants feel awake and focused, supplying fresh oxygenated blood to the muscles of the body that we have just stretched.  The last part of the breathing section will be slow , relaxed and focused breathing, laying on the floor and accompanied by sounds to help you connect with your body.  Most of this last section will be in silence, and is a time that you may wish to use to reflect, consider, meditate, or pray.  Injury or ailment should not be a barrier to your participation as you will be the judge of your limitations.

Sessions are 45 minutes long, starting promptly at 7.00pm (arrival from 6.45 pm please), and will be in the main hall and on judo mats.  Participants will be in bare or stockinged feet, and should wear suitable and comfortable loose clothing that will not restrict your movement in any way (sweatshirt/tee shirt and jog pants, yoga attire etc.).  It is recommended that you wear minimal jewellery (and no dangling earrings), and watches bracelets etc will be removed during the class.  It is recommended that you bring something to drink such as water or juice etc ( no carbonated or milk based drinks please).
